Cape Fear area vacation rental home tips and tricks:
Finding the best value:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Cape Fear area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Reserve your vacation home as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacation rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Property managers sometimes offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
- Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which often include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
How to choose the best rental in the Cape Fear area area:
- Choose your vacation week and max budget.
- Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Large 3BR Golf Villa in Sunset Beach (CV8C) has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is often available on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property management company before you book the vacation property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to work out what configuration is right for your vacation family.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Try a map search to locate nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
- Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or applied to your agreement.
Additional considerations:
- Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
- Upon arrival, record any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your quiet neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would have not otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
- Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let thieves spoil your vacation.
- Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Record a video to document the condition of the property.
- Did your family have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
