Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation property experience:

Finding the best value:

  • Summertime is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is our favorite way to save money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable properties.
  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property managers sometimes offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for details.
  • Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the perfect rental home in Southport:

  • Select a group lead, choose your trip dates, and select a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family requires. The Inn at South Harbor - Waterfront Condo : Sunrise and Sunset Views : Marina has 1 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available on booking pages. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish what is right for your group.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be a terrific resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at check-out. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other vacationing families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.
