An exclusive private and relaxing waterway bungalow so close to the beach you can hear the waves breaking along the shoreline. This 1 bedroom, 1 bath Craftsman-style guest home is on a unique 5-acre marsh front property with a private pier to a deck and kayak dock. The unrivaled vistas of the coastal wetlands along Montgomery Slough, plentiful wildlife and remarkable sunsets will leave you wanting to come back year after year.

This vacation get-away is unlike any other on Oak Island. Among the many features of the open floor plan are a entirely-supplied gourmet kitchen w/ stainless steel appliances and granite countertops, central A/C, cable TV, a 51" flat screen HDTV, and wireless internet. Full-size stacked washer/dryer, H/C outdoor shower with changing area, covered entry, carport for 1 car, ground-level storage and patio w/gas grille. Linens, towels and departure cleaning supplied. Kayaks, bicycles and beach chairs are included for your enjoyment.

A marvelous couple's getaway and a ideal setting for birders and wildlife enthusiasts. It's just a five-min. walk to the beach to savor a day in the sun. Unwind on the private deck overlooking the wetlands and take in some bird watching - more than 200 species of birds inhabit the island each summer. Take a peaceful kayak paddle off our dock or a bicycle ride around the island. Treat yourself to a round of golf at the Oak Island Country Club. It's a short walk to Ocean Crest Pier or to Island Way Restaurant for oceanfront dining. Drive to close by Southport and ride the ferry to Bald Head Island or historic Ft. Fisher. Wilmington is less than an hour's drive away.

At least one day, take the time to go to the beach to watch the sun set in the West before you come back to the guest home to relax and plan your tomorrow. Step outside and find a constellation or two or three.

Tips to get the optimal vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is a good way to save money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Book your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Finding the perfect vacation rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by choosing your a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. Quiet, Tranquil Retreat For Two, a 5-minute Walk to the Ocean has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally available online. If they are not listed, email the property management company before you reserve the home. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to establish what is best for your family.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask your host about your furry family members before booking.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • Document any damages to the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain time stamps that are very helpful if a dispute is filed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can often help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Just before checking out, take a final walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host is not available, ensure that you take photos of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was amiss and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
