Our top Wilmington rental property booking tips and tricks:

How to get the best value:

  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Book your rental property in the Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Some hosts offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Often, management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • To start, have your group choose dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. La Pension in Carolina Place - Spacious 1 Bed 1 Bath Garden Retreat- Sleeps 2! has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. Otherwise, email or call the property management company before booking the home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Some properties allow pets, and others do not. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the owner about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • Looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include search filters for amenities. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental property. Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
  • Record any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be valuable if there is a dispute.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected everything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the property one final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise walking through with the host whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a excellent time? Many rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
