Tricks and tips to get the perfect Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

Cost saving strategies:

  • To find the best rental within your budget, we strongly suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved early. Booking your rental home up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Some hosts offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guide magazines contain coupons for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

How to choose and book the perfectvacation home:

  • Start by choosing potential vacation weeks and a max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Large updated family home. Sleeps 15. Walking distance to everything. has 5 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the host before reserving your home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches.
  • Is your family looking for special amenities? Most rental websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • Remember to include your furry companions! Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Pet fees or charges might be applied to your contract.

More tips for your stay:

  • Add the host's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • To make certain that damages are not linked to your family's visit, inspect the property for any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be respectful. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to take kids for a treat, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the property one final time and scan for damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a excellent stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was out of order and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
