Our top Vacation rental tips and tricks:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. Reserve your rental in Spring or Fall to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Booking your rental property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitor guide magazines contain offers and deals for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Choosing and booking your Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Start by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Filmed for HGTV! 5 STARS! Updated, contemporary, relaxing, refreshed & clean. has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is normally accessible on booking websites. If not, call the property manager before you reserve the rental. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull out couches in living rooms. You will need to establish what is right for your vacation.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you crave, look for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your desires.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you must book a property that allows animals. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Note any issues with the rental at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be helpful if a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of issues.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can typically help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep the property locked while you are away! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • When it's time to leave, complete a final walk-through to make sure you have not forget anything. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on great reviews to stimulate new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will will be grateful for your experience find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
