Tips for getting the best Wilmington rental experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable properties are reserved early. Booking your vacation property 6-12 months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, consider changing your family's Cape Fear area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and greatly reduced traffic.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your family qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Waterline Cottage in South Front District has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You'll need to work out what configuration is right for your trip.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and others don't. Allowable types of pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask your host about pets before booking.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the owner's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • Note any damages to the property during check in, and immediately send them to the owner. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all of your things. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Many rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your rental and/or host was fantastic, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was defective and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
