Finding the best vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your rental home budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for local shops and restaurants.

Planning, selecting, and booking your prefectvacation home:

  • To start, have your family choose date ranges and a max budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. STEPS FROM THE BEACH! Waterfront home w\/ocean & canal views. Fish off backyard! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is usually accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, call the property manager before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area attraction you simply love, keep an eye out for rentals that are either nearby, or those that cater especially to your needs.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you'll need to search for a rental that allows animals. Request details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.

Additional considerations:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home.
  • To make sure that damages are not attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during check in. message the property manager immediately to document your findings. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, stereo or appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call prevents quite a few concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers disrupting your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are away, just like you would at home.
  • Re-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Did your family have a excellent stay? Most rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
