Our top Cape Fear area vacation rental booking tips:

How to get the best rental value:

  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Book your vacation in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family.
  • Booking websites frequently offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
  • Many rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to pick the best vacation home:

  • First and foremost, have your family commit to trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Second Chances: Short distance to the surf! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before you reserve your home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a rental that allows animals. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and save the directions to your phone.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the rental manager right away to record any damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, television set or coffee maker. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of problems.
  • Be respectful. Often times, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules is the right thing to do.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and scan for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on excellent ratings to propel more bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to solve it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
