Tricks and tips to get the best vacation property experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best rental home within budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your vacation home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental.
  • Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. It's always a good idea to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed vacation time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Often, property management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which often include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Selecting the best rental home:

  • Start by having your group commit to trip dates and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. Oceanfront condo, recently renovated w\/ocean views & 21ft. boat slip. has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before you book the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Some properties allow pets, but some do not. Allowable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Have a wonderful stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Upon check-in, record any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, television set or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief call prevents lots of concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable vacationers disrupting your peace and quiet. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Just before checking out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget any personal items. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager is not available, ensure that you take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Hosts rely on excellent feedback to stimulate future bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
