Tips and Tricks to get the optimal vacation property experience:

Getting the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked early. Reserving your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental home.
  • To find the best rental home for your budget, we suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at your favorite Cape Fear area restaurants and activities.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Booking websites frequently offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides have discounts for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a designated group leader, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group needs. Pelican Perch - 3rd floor views of the ocean and marsh - perfect for wildlife viewing. by RedAwning has 1 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rental home search.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is often available on booking websites. If they are not listed, call the property manager before you reserve the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Be aware that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Put the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent many concerns.
  • Protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are away, just like you would at home.
  • At Check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Just before checking out, complete a walk-through to confirm you have not leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a fantastic vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide feedback. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was imperfect and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
