“Pleasure Island” is all about having fun, and the Hoplite Pub & Beer Garden, a true pub or “public house” lives up to this reputation with a full menu of brews and pub grub, and a relaxed setting that stays open well into the early morning hours.
Hoplite Pub & Beer Garden is located just inland of the Carolina Beach shoreline, and is housed within an almost residential-looking coastal cottage that, at first glance, doesn’t resemble a traditional pub. This perception will change, however, as soon as patrons walk through to door and take a look at the hefty menu, which is chock full of hearty fare and ice cold beers on draft and in the bottle. Patrons with a taste for traditional Irish pub fare will want to chomp down on a big entrée like the Bangers n’ Mash or the Shepard’s Pie, while more American palettes can satisfy a big appetite with the shrimp and grits, the meatloaf, or the 10oz Hoplite Cheeseburger. There’s also a nice selection of pub-worthy appetizers, including nachos, onion rings, homemade potato chips, and massive chicken legs. A good spot for a Happy Hour or late-night celebration with friends, Hoplite Pub & Beer Garden is a true pleasure on bustling Pleasure Island.
