Strategies to get the perfect Cape Fear area vacation property experience:
Finding your perfect rental:
- In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation property up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and book your rental home.
- To find the largest rental home for your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at the beach.
- Some property management companies offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. Check with your host or property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for program terms and fees.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitor guides contain deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.
Choosing and booking your Cape Fear area rental:
- Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
- Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Enjoy horizon views and community pool at 2BR/2BA oceanfront condo has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking websites. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish which bed configuration is right for your family.
- Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Allowable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
- Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
Some things to know before you go:
- Put the host's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief call can prevent quite a few concerns.
- Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
- During check-in, make note of any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all coorespondence.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are often a terrific source for finding the best local scenic spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
- On check-out day, take a walk-through to confirm you haven't leave anything behind. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your group have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide feedback. If your property and/or host was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
