Strategies to get the perfect vacation property experience:

How to get the best value:

  • June, July, and August are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the best value, consider shifting your family's Cape Fear area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Christmas and Thanksgiving get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Hosts and Property managers sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites usually offer renters an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which include special deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Finding the best rental:

  • Begin by choosing vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. New! Spectacular Ocean & Marsh Views, Elevator, Pool, ADA, Den, Steps to Beach! has 5 bedrooms and 6 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is often accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, contact the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is suitable for your group.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are included before reserving a rental
  • Some rentals allow pets, but others do not. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the host about pets before booking.

Tips for your stay:

  • Get the host's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • During arrival, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an excellent source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home while you are away, just like you would back home.
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to make sure you have not leave anything behind. Re-check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a terrific time? Many rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
