Tricks and tips to get the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • Book your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving and Christmas gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • To find the best value, try shifting your vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warmer temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Often, property management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides that include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Planning and choosing the right Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Begin by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Rum&Redfish Retreat! Perfect for your family & pet friendly! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed types is often accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is best for your vacation family.
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some don't. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added fees may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
  • Does your group require special amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.

Advice for a terrific stay:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many concerns.
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. text the host immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your quiet neighborhood. Employ the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great restaurants and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Re-check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did you have a wonderful time? Most rental websites make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was defective and they failed to fix it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
