How to book the best Oak Island rental experience:

When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental & When to go:

  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are booked early. Reserving your rental 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Book your Cape Fear area rental in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your host or property manager to see if discounts are available for your family.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which often include coupons, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Tips for a wonderful stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Lock your rental while you're out. Protect your property!
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's stay, inspect the property for any problem areas during check in. Speak to the property manager right away to record any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like obnoxious vacationers bothering your home life. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and places you would've not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can often point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to find the best seashells, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Just prior to departing, complete a walk-through to make sure you didn't forget anything. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager is not available, take video of the rental to record its condition.
  • Leave feedback! Property owners rely on great reviews to propel future reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will will be grateful for your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
