This is your sign that it’s time to Paws Awhile and relax at the beach! Completed in 2025, this ocean view home offers a reverse floor plan that takes full advantage of the vistas of the Atlantic just across the street and welcomes up to two dogs per stay.

Settle into the comfortable curved sectional or loveseat to watch the big game with family, or gaze out the window to watch shorebirds swoop for their dinner instead. The open concept living space flows into the kitchen, where three seats at the center island provide ideal perches for your flock to keep the family prepare company as they put away groceries or prepare meals. Stainless steel appliances and a gleaming white backsplash anchor this space, which is completely supplied with everything you’ll need to prepare and dine. The adjacent dining table seats six, and a half bath is located just off this space for convenience.

The master suite is furnished with a king bed and faces the water – wake each morning to the sound of the waves. A TV is included for personal entertainment, and the en suite bath features a double vanity and a step-in shower stall. All other sleeping spaces are located on the lower level, with each bedroom featuring its own TV.

At the foot of the staircase, you’ll find an open room furnished with a wall-mounted TV and a modest desk complete with a computer monitor. A twin daybed gives this space flexibility to act as an additional sleeping area or a second living room. To the east, a bedroom with a double-over-double bunk bed connects to a second bedroom with a twin-over-double bunk bed through a Jack and Jill bathroom with a double vanity and standard tub/shower combo. The final bedroom has a queen bed and direct access to a full bathroom with a step-in shower and constructed-in shower bench. This bathroom also provides hall access, and a laundry closet just beside offers a full-sized washer and dryer.

Upper and lower covered porches on both the front and back of the home mean that there are plenty of spots where guests can appreciate the sea air. The upper ocean-facing porch provides enchanting vistas of the Atlantic and a variety of seating from which to savor them, including Adirondack chairs and a classic rocker. Other porches provide an outdoor couch or even a porch swing for calming! Below the home, an enclosed outdoor shower with hot and cold water is appreciated when hauling sand-covered babies or fur-babies back from the beach, and a classic wooden picnic table provides a shady area to dine outside. How to get the best Oak Island vacation home experience:

Sticking to your budget:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Reserve your rental home in Spring or Fall to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for more information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which often include special offers, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Selecting and booking your Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Begin by choosing your potential vacation weeks and a spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Paws Awhile: Dog-Friendly Home with Ocean Views has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking pages. Otherwise, reach out to the property owner before you reserve the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You'll need to determine what configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single attraction or event? Try a map search to locate nearby properties.
  • Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Pet fees or costs may be applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Upon check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent lots of difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disagreeable visitors disrupting your peaceful home. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great beaches and scenic spots you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are out, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, ensure that you take photos of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did you have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for customers to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
