Strategies to get the very best Cape Fear area vacation property experience:
When to visit & When to reserve a rental home:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation week to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm weather, , and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book a rental home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home six to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
- Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
- Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for more information.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine upon checking in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides contain deals for local tours and attractions.
Filter your rental search:
- Choose a designated group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a spending budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Marsh-View Oasis: 2-Min Easy Walk to Beach,Covered Decks, Outdoor Shower has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally accessible online. Otherwise, call the host before reserving the rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds in living rooms.
- If there's a certain Cape Fear area attraction you long to visit, browse homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
- Some rentals allow pets, but others don't. Acceptable types of dog or cat, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional fees may apply. Ask the owner about pets before booking.
More tips for your stay:
- Put the owner's information in your smartphone and wallet.
- At Check-in, make note of any issues with the property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of issues.
- Respect your neighbors. Often times, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your vacation.
- Re-check the rental property to confirm that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the property a final time and look for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or host was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was out of order and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
