Tips to get the very best Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Getting the most from your spending budget:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Reserve your vacation in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a partnership between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to choose the best vacation rental in Oak Island:

  • Choose a group leader, select your dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Carolina Sunshine: Spacious Home Less Than Half A Mile to Heron Lookout Park and has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before you reserve your home. Note that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
  • Some properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of dog or cat, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the host about allowable breeds and types before booking.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area destination you crave, search for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before reserving a rental

Know before you go:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your phone, and take a printed backup.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of problems.
  • Lock your rental property while you're away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately contact the host. We specifically recommend texts and e-mails, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be helpful if there is a dispute.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You will magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a great resource to find the best local scenic spots.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to enjoy a steak with a view, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Just before checking out, take a walk-through to confirm you have not forget anything. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest walking through with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on great ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
