Strategies to get the best rental home experience:
Sticking to a budget:
- Reserve your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules generally open a year in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer vacation rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring to get the benefit of beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Hosts sometimes offer promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if rate reductions are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer customers an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon arrival. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, travel guide magazines have deals for local accommodations, tours and attractions.
Use filters to narrow your rental search:
- Choose your dates and max budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and the configuration you need. Beauty at the Beach *1 Block from Beach* *Pool* has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is commonly available online. If not, email or call the property owner before reserving your rental. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to establish what is suitable for your vacation family.
- Some properties allow pets, and some don't. Allowable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and added costs may apply. Ask the property management company about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Visiting for a single event or attraction? Use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
Advice for a smooth stay:
- Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental property. We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
- Lock your rental home while you are away. Protect your property!
- At Check-in, document any damages to the rental property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, adjacent homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking rules reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
- Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did you have a excellent time? Most rental managers make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
