Strategies for getting the best Oak Island rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. Book your vacation home in Fall or Spring months to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowded roads, restaurants, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the high season.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
  • Some owners offer promotional rates for veterans. Remember to ask your property manager if special discounts are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer guests an option to obtain vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great articles, visitors guides have deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the best Cape Fear area rental home:

  • Select your vacation week and budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Amazing 6 BR Home with Golf Cart Included, Near Beach, Sleeps 16 has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before booking your home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area destination you simply love, search for homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Traveling with pets? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Extra fees or costs could be applied to your invoice.

During your stay:

  • Add the property manager's information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • During check-in, note any damages to the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask any questions during your stay.

  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can usually help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?

Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best vacation home. Remember to be objective.
