Tips and Tricks to get the very best vacation rental experience:

How to get the best rental value:

  • The sooner your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable vacation homes are booked very early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Reserving a rental home in the Spring or Fall is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation rental. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable properties. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you check-in. If your rental doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local information, visitor guides have deals for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Finding the best vacation home in Oak Island:

  • To start, have your group agree to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. 3 Bedroom oceanfront house on beautiful shores of Oak Island! has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, contact the property management company before reserving your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to work out what is suitable for your family.
  • If your family is vacationing with pets, filter your search for a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Be aware that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area beach you simply love, look for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. .

More considerations for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's phone number to your smartphone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent many difficulties.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking the rental when you are away, just like you would back home.
  • During check-in, note any issues with the property and immediately contact the host. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like unpleasant vacationers disrupting your peaceful home. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and places you would have not otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Re-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Remember to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Go through the property a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on excellent feedback to drive future reservations. They'll be thankful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your experience find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
