Booking the best Bald Head Island rental experience:

Finding your best deal:

  • Book your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer months are the most expensive season in Bald Head Island. To find the most suitable vacation home for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of large crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, tours, and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • Owners sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if special discounts are available for your group.
  • Booking websites often offer guests an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather, as well as ensuing additional evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guides contain discounts for local accommodations, tours and attractions.

Filter your rental search:

  • Begin by choosing your the best vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your group requires. Single level floor plan home with large screened in porch overlooking the golf course; 2 golf carts has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed types is regularly available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property management company before you book the property. Note that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • If your family is bringing pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to browse nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for persons with disabilities. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

More tips for your stay:

  • Take a copy of the owner's phone number and arrival/departure procedures for your .
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or WIFI setup. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Protect the property owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your visit, inspect for any problem areas upon your arrival. Speak to the property manager immediately to document any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Practice the golden rule for best judgement. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can frequently help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Re-check the property to confirm that you've packed all of your family's items at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave feedback! Property managers rely on good feedback to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
