About this Property

  • Sleeps 4
  • 2 Bedrooms
  • 1 Bathrooms
  • Apartment
  • Approximately 900 square feet

This appealing 1800’s Victorian duplex underwent an broad remodel that was finished in summer of 2023. It retains its historic appeal with original wooden doors, a bedroom fireplace (now decorative only), and its location on a peaceful cobblestone street. However, it was thoughtfully modernized with new plumbing, electric, floor, appliances, and light fixtures and is decorated in a timeless style with a nod to its heritage but in no way retro.

This upstairs 2 bedroom 1 bath duplex has tons of windows and natural light. It also includes access to the front porch that has a swing and additional seating and a deck with furnishings that is ideal for appreciating a cup of coffee or a meal. The living room has comfortable seating and a enormous Roku intelligent TV. One bedroom has a queen bed, TV, and a view of the cobblestone street. The second smaller bedroom has a twin size bunk bed and intelligent TV. The eat-in kitchen with seating for 4 is outfitted with all new appliances, including a gas stove, dish washer, and washer/dryer laundry center. It includes cookware, dishes, and kitchen basics and includes a coffee bar, bottled water, and some snacks. The bathroom has a tile shower with a glass door.

This duplex is just a stone’s throw to downtown Wilmington, so you can walk to downtown and appreciate the historic north end of downtown. Off street parking is included (modest and mid sized cars only as the driveway is narrow) and there is always plenty of street parking for bigger cars, cars pulling a trailer, or additional cars. Only a 30 min. drive to the beaches!

Note that this unit is accessed via a full flight of steps.

Tips to get the best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in Wilmington. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring months is our favorite way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of desirable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • Reserve your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer rentals during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Some property management companies offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if discounts are available for your group before you book.
  • Booking websites typically offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides that include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to pick the best vacation rental in Wilmington:

  • Start by choosing your vacation dates and a budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Urban Oasis has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly available on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property management company before reserving the home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine what bed configuration is right for your family.
  • Looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Confirm all required amenities are available before booking.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Allowable pet type, breed, and size are often limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or might be applied to your invoice.

Additional considerations:

  • Take a copy of the host's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your rental. We recommend storing the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain that no damages are linked to your family's visit, make a record of any problem areas upon check in. message the host right away to relay any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, intercom or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent quite a few difficulties.
  • Respect your neighbors. Often times, adjacent homes are filled by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to book the best tours, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Double-check every room of the property to confirm that you've packed everything at check-out. Check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property one final time and look for damage. We suggest walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on great reviews to stimulate more bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the property manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
