Strategies to get the optimal vacation home experience:

When to visit Carolina Beach & When to reserve a rental home:

  • To get the best value, try shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer excellent temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday on the coast? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with family and friends at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and reserve your vacation home.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host if your group qualifies for a reduced rate.
  • Property management companies usually offer guests an option to purchase trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guides that include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.

Filter your rental search:

  • Start by choosing a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Note the number beds and the configuration your family needs. Spacious, newly remodeled condo. High End finish w\/2 patios. Ocean views\/access has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking websites. If not, email or call the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms.
  • Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these filters to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts charge additional pet fees.

More tips for your visit:

  • Add the property manager's contact info to your phone. Print and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
  • To make sure that no damages are attributed to your stay, record any problem areas during arrival. E-mail the host right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and scenic spots you would've never otherwise known!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Protect your property!
  • When it's time to leave, complete a walk-through to make sure you did not forget anything. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the host whenever you can. If the property manager is not available, take photos and video of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your group have a great time? Most rental websites make it easy for clients to provide comments. If your rental property and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.
