Our top Cape Fear area vacation rental tips and tricks:

Find your best deal:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in coastal NC. To get the best value, consider changing your vacation week to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are reserved very early. Reserving your rental six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host whether your family qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for more information.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines that include special deals, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

How to select the perfect rental in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by having your family agree to date ranges and a budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Southern Seabreeze: Remodeled Home with Private Seasonal Pool and Great Ocean Vi has 7 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally accessible online. If they are not listed, email or call the host before you reserve the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what is best for your vacation group.
  • If there's an individual Cape Fear area destination you are crazy about, browse homes that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Appropriate accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
  • Some rentals allow pets, but some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the property manager about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

More tips for your stay:

  • Store the owner's contact information in your smartphone.
  • Note any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if damages are assessed.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent many concerns.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud vacationers bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can frequently help. Who better to ask where to get the best breakfast in town, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let burglars spoil your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Leave feedback! Hosts rely on good ratings to drive new reservations. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to remedy it.
