Tricks and tips to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the most from your rental budget:
- Reserve your rental in Fall or Spring months to enjoy warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer.
- Reserve your rental as early as possible. Rental schedules often open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
- Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners frequently offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
- Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines that include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local businesses, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Filter your search:
- Choose vacation dates and budget.
- Seaside duplex with spectacular views! Rent both sides for family fun! has 3 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
- Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts & types is normally accessible on booking pages. If not, reach out to the host before you book the home. Note that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You'll need to work out what configuration is best for your group.
- Visiting for a specific attraction? Use a map search to find nearby rentals.
- Appropriate accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with a disability. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking
- Do your family pets travel with you? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Make sure to ask before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or costs might be applied to your contract.
More tips for your stay:
- Add the property manager's contact information to your smartphone. Understand and take a copy of arrival/departure procedures.
- To make certain that damages aren't attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas when you arrive. Get in touch with the host immediately to relay any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be helpful.
- Hosts are there to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Respect the neighborhood. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking policies is the right thing to do.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Local residents can frequently point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for fishing?
- Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by keeping the rental locked up while you are out, just like you would at home.
- Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Go through the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on great reviews to compel more bookings. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationing families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation home. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
