Finding the best Cape Fear area vacation home experience:

How to get the best rental home value:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in the Cape Fear area area. Booking in the Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of acceptable homes. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer months.
  • The sooner your group can book a rental home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your vacation rental.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners usually offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select your vacation dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Heather Leigh: Oceanfront home centrally located on Oak Island has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available on booking websites. If not, email the property manager before reserving the vacation property. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your trip.
  • Visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before reserving a rental.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Usually, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a great stay:

  • Get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. Put the host's information in your smartphone.
  • To make certain damages aren't linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas during arrival. message the property manager right away to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be valuable.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a garage door opener, elevator or appliance. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief telephone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You will magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are often a great resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Lock your rental property while you are gone! Don't let crooks ruin your trip.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to compel new reservations. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will appreciate that you share your feedback find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
