Strategies for getting the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

Sticking to a rental budget:

  • Reserving a rental home in Spring or Fall is our best tip for saving money on your vacation. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable homes. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with family and friends at the beach.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can book, the better your selection will be. The best properties are booked early. Reserving your vacation home six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and reserve your rental home.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective host if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs between 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for program terms and fees.
  • Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which include money-saving offers, either offered independently by local companies, or through a partnership between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your rental Search:

  • Start by selecting a vacation week and a budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration you need. Halcyon Daze \/ 104 SE 70th Street - Coastal Vacation Resorts has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible online. Otherwise, contact the host before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes sofa beds.
  • Are you visiting for a single event? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all required amenities are available before reserving a rental
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Remember to ask the property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or costs applied to your invoice.

Considerations for your stay:

  • We recommend storing the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's visit, record any problem areas during check in. Contact the rental manager immediately to document any damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be useful.
  • Ask questions. You may want instructions for a hot tub, elevator or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many difficulties.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peaceful home. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great restaurants and attractions you would have never otherwise known about!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Ensure you protect the rental owner (and your things!) by locking and securing the home when you are out, just like you would at home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before you drive away, take a walk through the rental to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We recommend walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Hosts rely on great ratings to drive future reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review find their best rental home. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to solve it.
