Strategies to get the best Cape Fear area vacation rental experience:

Find your perfect vacation home:

  • The sooner you can reserve a home, the easier your search will be. The best vacation homes are booked early. Reserving your rental home up to twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summer is high season in Ocean Isle Beach. To get the best value, try shifting your group's trip dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • Some property managers offer special rates for veterans and active duty military. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family.
  • Property managers typically offer renters an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional evacuation charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Often, property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Finding the best rental home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Choose a group leader, select your trip dates, and select a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. Oasis Vacations, Oyster Perpetual. Private Pool & Elevator, Brand New Construction has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is often available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you reserve the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms.
  • Are you bringing the family pet? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Pet fees or costs could be applied to your contract.
  • Are you visiting for a specific attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Confirm all required amenities are available and included before booking.

Additional considerations:

  • Review check in & check out procedures before traveling. Save the instructions to your smartphone, and take a printed copy.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents many issues.
  • Lock your vacation home while you're away. Keep your property safe!
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the owner. Record all correspondence just in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peace. Apply the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great local food and places you would've not otherwise known about!
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Neighbors can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • At departure, complete a final walk-through to confirm you haven't forget any personal items. Make sure to check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Leave a review! Property owners rely on great ratings to drive more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
