Our top Oak Island vacation rental booking tips:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To get the largest vacation home within budget, we highly recommend reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite Cape Fear area restaurants and activities.
- In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are booked early. Booking your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to search for and book your rental property.
- Some hosts and property managers offer discounts for active duty military and veterans. Ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your family.
- Property management companies often offer guests an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost between 1% - 5% of the booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for additional information.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area area magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great articles, visitor guides have offers and deals for local accommodations, restaurants and tours.
Make a plan and pick the perfect Cape Fear area rental home:
- First, have your group decide on the best dates and a maximum budget.
- Decide how many beds and the bed configuration your family requires. 4BD Oceanfront Beach Bungalow has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, call the property manager before you book the rental. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your vacation.
- If there's a certain Cape Fear area attraction you are crazy about, look for homes that are either close by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for information on breed, size, and type restrictions. Some property managers charge additional pet fees.
Considerations for your stay:
- We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Upon arrival, record any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the owner. Keep records of all coorespondence.
- Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking regulations can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your family vacation.
- Upon check-out, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Walk through the rental a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We suggest inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Leave feedback! Hosts rely on excellent reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other vacationers will appreciate that you share your review and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
