Strategies to get the best vacation home experience:
Get the best rental home value:
- Summer months are high season in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best value, try changing your family's Cape Fear area trip dates to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and even October offer warm temperatures, less crowded beaches, and greatly reduced traffic.
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best properties are reserved very early. Booking your rental property six - twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Christmas, Thanksgiving and New Years Eve are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
- Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your property manager to see if special discounts are available for your family.
- Booking websites usually offer their guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which normally costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your host for details.
- Look for your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, visitors guide magazines have discounts for nearby accommodations, restaurants and tours.
How to choose and book a perfect Cape Fear area vacation home:
- First and foremost, have your group decide on dates and a budget.
- Note the number beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. MilRay: Dog-friendly Home Centrally Located in Yaupon Beach has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed types is often available online. If they are not listed, call the property owner before you book the rental. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your group looking for particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
- If your group is bringing pets, you will need a pet-friendly vacation rental. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type requirements. Usually, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
Advice for a wonderful stay:
- Put the owner's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- To make sure that no damages are attributed to your visit, inspect the rental for any problem areas upon your arrival. Get in touch with the host immediately to report your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be valuable.
- Property managers are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are filled by local residents. Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
- Protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home while you are gone, just like you would back home.
- Re-check every room of the property to make sure that you've packed all personal items at check-out. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Inspect the rental one final time and scan for any damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
- Did your group have a terrific time? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for clients to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
