Tricks and tips to get the perfect Wilmington vacation rental experience:

When to visit & When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental home:

  • June, July, and August are high season in Wilmington. To find the best value, consider shifting your family's Cape Fear area vacation dates to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and October offer excellent temperatures, less crowded beaches, and reduced traffic.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The most desirable rental homes are booked very early. Reserving your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Owners sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your property manager if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property managers frequently offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines contain money saving offers on local accommodations and attractions.

Planning, selecting, and booking the bestrental:

  • Choose your vacation dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group requires. Lavender Guesthouse - A Private Oasis Downtown. has 2 bedrooms and 1 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is generally available online. If you don't see them listed, email the property owner before booking the rental. Remember that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is right for your trip.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for the less-mobile. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Make sure to ask for details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Usually, property owners require additional pet deposits and fees.

Advice for a fantastic stay:

  • Add the property manager's contact information to your phone. Understand and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Make a record of any issues with the rental during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are valuable if damages are assessed.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like loud visitors bothering your peace and quiet. Use the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and places you would have never otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can typically point you in the right direction. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Lock your rental property while you are out! Don't let thieves ruin your holiday.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, walk through the property to make sure you've collected all personal belongings. Remember to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, remember to take pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for customers to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property manager was great, they will likely appreciate your kind words. If anything was wrong and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.
