Tips and Tricks for getting the best Oak Island vacation rental experience:

Get the most from your spending budget:

  • The earlier you can reserve a vacation rental, the easier your search will be. The best rental homes are booked early. Reserving your vacation property 6-12 months before your vacation is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your vacation home.
  • Summertime is the most expensive season along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in the Spring or Fall is an excellent way to save money on your rental home. Rental rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable properties.
  • Some property managers offer discounts for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies often offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide upon checking in. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great information, travel guides contain discounts for local restaurants, attractions, and tours.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select dates and spending budget.
  • Decide how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Laid back luxury on Oak Island has 3 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
  • Specific information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is almost always available on booking websites. If they are not listed, contact the property manager before reserving the vacation home. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You'll need to establish what is best for your vacation family.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you will need a pet-friendly property. Get details on breed, weight, and type requirements. Note that some property owners charge additional pet fees.
  • Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters. Amenity filters help you quickly remove less-optimal properties.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Considerations for your stay:

  • Store the host's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Don't be shy to ask questions during your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the property owner (and your stuff!) by locking the rental while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately alert the property manager. Keep records of all coorespondence.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often, nearby homes are filled by local residents. Respecting noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to go for the best drinks, have a great night out, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Double-check the property to confirm that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Record a video to document the condition of the property.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property owners rely on good ratings to compel new bookings. They'll be grateful for your feedback. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your experience and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the host had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
