Strategies to get the perfect vacation home experience:

Money saving strategies:

  • Summertime is high season in Oak Island. Reserve your Cape Fear area rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
  • The earlier your group can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental properties are booked very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your travel dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your vacation home.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer special rates for active duty military and veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies frequently offer their guests an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which usually will cost between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local information, visitors guides contain discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the best rental:

  • Start by having your group commit to a vacation week and a spending budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Island Hideaway: Dog-friendly home right near Publix and the Oak Island Nature C has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible online. If they are not listed, contact the property owner before reserving the rental. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which typically includes pull out couches in living rooms. You'll need to determine which bed configuration is best for your group.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area destination you are crazy about, look for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to inquire about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Although a number of vacation homes allow pets or animals, guidelines and costs vary per property. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your rental agreement! Extra fees or might be applied to your contract.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home.
  • To ensure that no damages are linked to your family's stay, note any problem areas during check in. text the property manager right away to record any pre-existing damages. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are available to help! Feel free to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll enhance your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are an incredible source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Lock your rental while you are out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • Double-check the vacation property to make sure that you've packed all belongings at check-out. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • After your trip, leave a review! Property managers rely on excellent reviews to propel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other vacationers will be thankful you shared your review find their best rental home. Please be fair with your feedback If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded expeditiously to fix it.
