Tips for getting the best Holden Beach vacation property experience:

Get the best value:

  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often open a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in the Cape Fear area area. To find the best rental for your budget, we highly recommend reserving in Fall or Spring months. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of large crowds at popular Cape Fear area attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during June, July, and August.
  • Some hosts offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Check with your host or property manager to see if rate reductions are available for your family before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to purchase vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which normally costs 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed vacation time as a result of personal medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for additional information.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers. In addition to great local articles, travel guide magazines contain offers and deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the best vacation rental:

  • Choose dates and maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the configuration your family needs. Hobbs Realty - Enjoy \"Miss B Haven\", a pet-friendly oceanfront home w\/ private pool has 6 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rentals search.
  • Specific information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is usually accessible on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the host before you reserve the property. Remember that most property listings specify maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type requirements. Some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a particular Cape Fear area beach you crave, keep an eye out for rentals that are either near by, or those that cater to your needs.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. Make certain to ask about wheel chair accessibility, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

During your stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or washer/dryer. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're gone! Don't let burglars ruin your vacation.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately alert the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like disrespectful visitors bothering your home life. Employ the golden rule for common sense. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would have not otherwise known!
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Local residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the property to record its condition.
  • After your trip, leave feedback! Property owners rely on great ratings to stimulate more reservations. They'll be grateful for your review. Alternatively, if something went awry, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to remedy it.
