About the Area

Located in Bald Head Island, this vacation home is near the beach. The area's natural beauty can be seen at Carolina Beach and Caswell Beach, while Smith Island Museum of History and North Carolina Maritime Museum at Southport are cultural highlights. When to book a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

• Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available a year in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups book their Summer vacations during Winter holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
• To get the largest vacation home within budget, we recommend booking in Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular Cape Fear area attractions.
• Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
• Booking websites typically offer customers an option to buy trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which usually costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
• Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, visitor guides have offers and deals for nearby tours and attractions.

• Precise information regarding bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, reach out to the property management company before reserving your home. Note that most listings specify maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches.
• Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your host before booking, and study your agreement! Additional fees or charges might be applied to your contract.
• Visiting for a specific event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
• Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all required amenities are included before reserving a rental

• Add the property manager's information to your phone. Print and take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
• Property managers are available to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
• Keep your rental home locked while you're out! Don't let thieves ruin your family vacation.
• To ensure that damages aren't attributed to your family's visit, note any problem areas upon your arrival. Contact the host right away to document any damages. If there is a dispute about who is responsible, having the recorded concerns and contact attempts will be useful.
• Be respectful. Frequently, adjacent homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies is the right thing to do.
• Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Locals can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
• Don't leave anything behind! Just before you drive away, take a walk through the rental property to reconfirm you've collected all personal items. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
• Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
• Did you have a terrific stay? Many rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they always love to hear your praise.
