Our top Rental property booking tips and tricks:

When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years Eve gatherings. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • June, July, and August are high season in Bald Head Island. To get the largest rental within your budget, we highly recommend booking in the Spring or Fall. You'll benefit from lower rates, better selection, beautiful weather and the absence of giant crowds at your favorite restaurants and activities. Many vacationers use this strategy to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the high season.
  • Property managers sometimes offer promotional rates for veterans and active duty military. It's always a good idea to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group before you book.
  • Property management companies typically offer renters an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which commonly will cost you anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for additional information.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which will include special deals, either offered directly by local companies, or through a relationship with the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

Make a plan and choose the best Cape Fear area vacation home:

  • Choose your dates and spending budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Close to oldest lighthouse in NC and neighborhood dock! has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed types is commonly accessible on booking pages. If you don't see them listed, reach out to the property owner before booking the vacation property. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds in living rooms. You'll need to work out what is best for your group.
  • If your family is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly rental. Get specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Often, hosts require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • Are you visiting for a specific event? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.

Advice for your stay:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. Store the manager's information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, A/V setup or WIFI setup. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call can prevent a lot of difficulties.
  • Lock your rental while you're out and about. Keep your property safe!
  • To ensure that damages are not attributed to your family's stay, make a record of any problem areas during check in. Make contact with the rental manager immediately to relay any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of problems and contact attempts will be helpful.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting noise limits and parking regulations is the right thing to do.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Local residents can typically help. Who better to ask where to grab the best tacos, have a great night out, or the best spots for fine dining?
  • Don't leave anything behind! Before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and scan for damage. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the property manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did your family have a great stay? Many rental management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your property and/or property manager was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was defective and they failed to address it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
