Important Information for Your Stay

At BHI Vacations, we want to ensure you have the best possible experience during your visit. Please note that while some homes may provide bicycles or beach towels, we do not maintain or guarantee their availability.

The Bald Head Island Club and Shoals Club operate independently from BHI Vacations, and guest memberships must be purchased directly through each club. Availability varies by home listing, and during the summer season, memberships may sell out quickly. To avoid disappointment, we strongly recommend securing your club membership as early as possible.

Additionally, the Bald Head Island ferry system is independently operated and not affiliated with BHI Vacations. To ensure a smooth arrival and departure, we encourage guests to book ferry and tram reservations well in advance.

Vacation rental tips:

When to reserve a Cape Fear area rental home & When to go:

  • Summertime is high season in the Cape Fear area area. Book your Cape Fear area rental in the Fall or Spring to enjoy gorgeous weather while saving money and avoiding crowds. Many vacationers use this strategy to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The sooner you can book a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best rental homes are booked very early. Booking your vacation property six to twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to plan and book your rental property.
  • Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager if your group qualifies for a special rate.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Often, rental management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guides which will include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a relationship with the property management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.

How to select the perfect vacation home in the Cape Fear area area:

  • Start by selecting the best vacation week and a maximum budget.
  • Note the number bedrooms and the configuration your family needs. Charming cottage nestled high on the dune ridge w\/both clubs! has 2 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts is regularly available online. If not, email the property owner before you book the vacation home. Note that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds and bunks.
  • If there's a certain Cape Fear area destination you are enamored with, browse rentals that are either close by, or those that cater to your desires.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. .
  • Some rental properties allow pets, and some do not. Acceptable types of family pet, size and breeds may be restricted, and additional costs may apply. Ask the host about allowable pet guidelines before booking.

Some things to know before you go:

  • Get the property manager's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental. Store the host's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • Record any issues with the property during check in, and immediately e-mail them to the property manager. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that can be beneficial if damages are attributed to your stay.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a fireplace, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents lots of difficulties.
  • Be respectful. Frequently, nearby homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can typically help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to order the best nachos, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect the owner's property and your stuff!
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the property to reconfirm you've collected all personal belongings. Re-check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
  • Did your family have a great vacation? Most rental home management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or host was terrific, they always love to hear your praise. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
