Run, walk, or strut your way through an inviting course that launches from the picturesque Long Leaf Park in Wilmington for this annual race that supports a wonderful local cause. The Strut for Childhood Cancer Race is a lightly competitive 5K or 1-mile-fun-run, with plenty of enticements including race swag, awards for participants, and a Flamingo Foam Party at the finish line.

The Strut for Childhood Cancer Race, (formerly known as the Cardinal Strut), is celebrating its 15th year in 2024, and all proceeds from the popular event go to to children in the Cape Fear area battling cancer through Children’s Cancer Partners of the Carolinas. There are 5K awards for first, second, and third place male and female winners in multiple age groups, although everyone will enjoy the cool race swag and the foamy finish-line party. The Children's Cancer Partners of the Carolinas will support more than 2,200 children battling cancer in the coming year, so the family-friendly race is also a great way for Wilmington-area locals to help their friends and neighbors who are in immediate need of assistance.
