Tips and Tricks for getting the best vacation property experience:
Get the most from your rental home budget:
- The sooner you can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Reserving your rental up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
- Reserve your Cape Fear area vacation home in Spring or Fall to get the benefit of warm weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager or host whether your family qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
- Property management companies usually offer their guests an option to obtain trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed days as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather, as well as hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unanticipated hotel or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
- Many management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guide magazines which include money-saving deals, either offered independently by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the property management company and the business itself. You can also find visitors guide and coupon books at local shops and grocery stores.
Planning, picking, and booking the perfect Cape Fear area vacation home:
- Select a group lead, select your dates, and select a spending budget.
- Determine how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your family needs. Canal Front Home with Boat Access & Golf Cart! Very Close to Beach Access! has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is generally available on booking pages. If not, call the property management company before you book the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a property that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, size, and type restrictions. Note that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
- If there's a particular Cape Fear area attraction you long to visit, search for properties that are either near by, or those that cater to your requirements.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for those with limited mobility. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking
Advice for a fantastic stay:
- Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and check in/check out procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
- Property managers are there to help! Don't be shy to ask any questions before, during, or after your stay.
- Keep the property locked while you are out! Don't let burglars spoil your family vacation.
- Document any issues with the property during check in, and immediately send them to the property manager. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain time stamps that are useful if damages are attributed to your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome visitors disrupting your peaceful neighborhood. Practice the golden rule for common sense. Happy residents may even recommend great beaches and attractions you would have never otherwise known!
- Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Residents can often help. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Just prior to departing, complete a final walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Make sure to check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Did your family have a excellent vacation? Many vacation rental websites make it easy for travelers to provide comments. If your property and/or host was terrific, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to correct it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
