Tricks and tips to get the best Ocean Isle Beach vacation home experience:
Finding the best rental home value:
- The earlier your group can reserve a vacation home, the easier your search will be. The most desirable vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your vacation home up to 12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holiday gatherings are excellent times to search for and reserve your rental property.
- Summer months are high season in Ocean Isle Beach. To get the best vacation home for your budget, we strongly suggest reserving in the Fall or Spring. You'll benefit from lower rental rates, better selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at Cape Fear area restaurants, beaches, and activities. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to book an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during June, July, and August. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
- Property managers sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for active duty military and veterans. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group before you book.
- Booking websites usually offer guests an option to buy trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally will cost you 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or extra gas expenses. Trip insurance can be a a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for additional information.
- Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area area magazine upon arrival. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guides contain coupons for nearby restaurants, attractions, and tours.
Make a plan and pick the bestrental:
- Select your dates and spending budget.
- Decide how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Bright, & beautiful, private pool, ocean view, 5 bedrooms, 6 baths, sleeps 14 has 5 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our vacation rental search.
- Precise details about bedrooms and bed types is almost always available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book your home. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds.
- Some rentals allow pets, but some don't. Allowable types of family pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and additional charges may apply. Ask the owner about allowable pet guidelines before booking.
- Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? Try a map search to find nearby properties.
- Suitable accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. Remember to confirm all necessary amenities are included before booking
Additional considerations:
- Store the manager's contact information in your smartphone.
- Ask questions. You may want instructions for a fireplace, intercom or coffee maker. Contact your property manager. They are there to help! A brief text message prevents many issues.
- Keep your rental home locked while you are out! Don't let crooks spoil your trip.
- At Check-in, record any damages to the property and immediately contact the host. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
- Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible resource to find the best local beaches and hangouts.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local! Residents can often help you find exactly what you're looking for. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Check bathrooms, garages, and back yards for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Please make sure to walk through the property a final time and look for damages to contents or the property itself. We suggest inspecting the property with the host whenever possible. If the manager isn't available, remember to take video and pictures of the property to record its condition at check-out.
- Remember to leave a review! Property managers rely on good ratings to compel future bookings. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something went wrong, other families will be thankful you shared your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Remember to be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the manager had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to fix it.
