Tips and Tricks to get the perfect rental experience:

When to book a Cape Fear area rental & When to go:

  • To find the best value, consider changing your family's Cape Fear area vacation to the Spring or Fall months. May, September, and even October offer warmer weather, , and reduced traffic.
  • Reserve your vacation home as early as possible. Rental schedules usually open twelve months in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many families reserve their Summer vacation rentals during holiday get-togethers. Reserve before these holidays for best selection.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts for veterans. Ask your property manager if discounts are available for your group.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a life-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for details.
  • Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, visitors guides have deals for nearby accommodations and attractions.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Select a group leader, choose your trip dates, and choose a max budget.
  • Determine how many beds and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. Blue Horizon: Elegant 2023 Construction in the Heart of Oak Island has 5 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms.
  • Specific details about bedrooms and bed counts is normally available on booking websites. Otherwise, reach out to the property manager before you book your rental. Remember that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes sofa beds in living rooms. You will need to work out which bed configuration is right for your group.
  • Does your family require unique amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists.
  • Proper accessibility can make or ruin a vacation for the less-mobile. .
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you must book a pet-friendly vacation rental. Request specifics on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Note that some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

Have a great stay:

  • Be sure you get the owner's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your .
  • Upon check-in, make note of any damages to the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all correspondence in case a dispute arises.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay more pleasurable. You will increase your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are usually an incredible source for finding the best local attractions.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can frequently help. Who better to ask where to spend a rainy day, have a great night out, or the best spots for crabbing?
  • Keep your rental home locked while you are away! Don't let burglars ruin your family vacation.
  • Double-check the property to make sure that you've packed everything at departure. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and scan for any damage. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, remember to take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for customers to provide comments. If your rental and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was imperfect and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your feedback.
