Tricks and tips to get the best Cape Fear area vacation rental experience:

Getting the most from your rental home budget:

  • Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after Summer ends). Many families book their Summer rentals during Winter holiday gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summer is high season in the Cape Fear area area. To book the best rental within your budget, we suggest booking in the Fall or Spring. You'll enjoy lower rates, greater selection, gorgeous weather and the absence of giant crowds at the beach and popular attractions. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Property management companies sometimes offer discounts or promotional rates for veterans. Make sure to check with your property manager to see if special offers are available for your group.
  • Property managers frequently offer customers an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or additional fuel expenses. Trip insurance is definitely a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for details.
  • Many rental management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area visitor guide magazines which will include money-saving offers, either offered directly by local companies, or by way of a relationship between the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area visitors guide and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Narrow your Search:

  • Choose dates and budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your family requires. Beautiful 3BR/2BA Home, 2nd Row, Ocean View, Dog Friendly, Sleeps 8 has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts & types is generally accessible on booking websites. If you don't see them listed, call the property management company before booking the home. Remember that most properties list the maximum guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine what is right for your trip.
  • If your group is traveling with pets, you'll need to book a pet-friendly property. Make sure to ask for specifics on breed, size, and type restrictions. Often, property managers require additional pet deposits and fees.
  • If there's a specific Cape Fear area beach you long to visit, search for homes that are either nearby, or those that cater to your requirements.
  • Suitable accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Make certain to ask about wheel chair entry, pool lifts and specialized equipment needs.

More tips for your stay:

  • Review arrival and departure procedures before leaving home. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the instructions to your smartphone.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, A/V setup or thermostat. Contact your owner. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of difficulties.
  • Keep your rental home locked while you're away! Don't let crooks spoil your holiday.
  • At Check-in, document any issues with the property and immediately alert the host. Record all coorespondence.
  • Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are usually a fantastic source for finding the best local restaurants, beaches, and hangouts.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for fishing?
  • Double-check every room of the vacation property to confirm that you've packed all personal items at departure. Remember to check dressers, closets, and bathrooms for hidden items. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the property a final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can. If the host isn't available, remember to take photos and video of the property to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful time? Many rental home management companies make it easy for vacationers to provide comments. If your property and/or property manager was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was out of order and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make a note as part of your comments.
