Strategies for getting the perfect vacation home experience:
When to visit Holden Beach & When to reserve a rental home:
- To find the best value, consider shifting your group's vacation dates to the Spring or Fall shoulder seasons. May, September, and October offer great temperatures, , and greatly reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer.
- Book your vacation rental as early as possible. Rental schedules generally open twelve months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many families reserve their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
- Some property managers offer rate reductions for veterans and active duty military. Remember to ask your host or property manager if special offers are available for your group.
- Property management companies usually offer guests an option to buy vacation insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related issues or weather, as well as evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask your property manager for specifics.
- Look for your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental home doesn't have a copy, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines contain deals for local tours, shops, and attractions.
Planning, selecting, and booking a perfectvacation home:
- Select a group leader, select your vacation week, and choose a budget.
- Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family needs. \"A Blue Monkey\" Oceanfront with a pool, 4 bedroom 4.5 bathroom has 4 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area rental home search.
- Precise information about bedrooms and bed counts & types is usually available online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before reserving the vacation property. Remember that most property listings specify the max. guest capacity, which usually includes sofa beds. You will need to establish what configuration is best for your vacation family.
- Are you looking for particular amenities? Most rental search websites include amenity lists and search filters.
- Suitable accessibility can make or break a vacation for guests that require the use of a wheelchair. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before booking.
- If your group is vacationing with pets, you will need a property that allows animals. Get details on breed, size, and type requirements. Often, property owners charge additional pet fees.
Have a fantastic stay:
- Review arrival and departure procedures before traveling. Take a printed copy, and add a note with the directions to your smartphone.
- Document any damages to the rental upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the owner. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that can be very helpful if a dispute is filed.
- Ask questions. You may need instructions for a hot tub, elevator or washer/dryer. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief telephone call can prevent lots of concerns.
- Respecting quiet hours and parking policies can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors can be an incredible source for finding the best local spots.
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Locals can usually help. Who better to ask where to find the fresh catch of the day, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
- Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by keeping the rental locked up when you are out, just like you would back home.
- On check-out day, complete a walk-through to confirm you didn't forget any personal items. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel future bookings. They'll be thankful for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't as described, other families will will be grateful for your review find their best vacation rental. Be fair with your review. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner could control the issue, and if so, whether they responded quickly to fix it.
