Our top Rental home booking tips:

When to book & When to go:

  • Book your vacation rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules usually become available a year in advance (or in September just after Summertime ends). Many groups book their Summer rental homes during Christmas and Thanksgiving gatherings. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Summertime is high season in Holden Beach. To get the best value, shift your group's vacation to the Spring or Fall seasons. May, September, and October offer great weather, fewer crowds, and reduced traffic. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve a beach front rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during June, July, and August.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property management company or host whether your group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers often offer customers an option to purchase trip insurance. Trip insurance, which costs anywhere between 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for days missed as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unexpected hotel stay or extra fuel expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask your host for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local visitors guide when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and fuel stations. In addition to great local articles, visitor guide magazines have discounts for local tours, shops, and attractions.

How to select the best rental:

  • Begin by selecting trip dates and a budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and what type of bedroom configuration your family requires. \"Waters Edge 429-D\" - Oceanfront Condo w/ Community Pool, 2 Bedrooms / 2 Bathrooms has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our rentals search.
  • Precise descriptions of bedrooms and bed sizes & counts is almost always available online. If they are not listed, email or call the property manager before booking the vacation property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes sofa beds. You will need to determine what is optimal for your trip.
  • Are you traveling with furry, four-legged family members? Many vacation homes allow animals, but guidelines and restrictions apply. Type of pet, size and breeds may be limited. Ask your property manager before booking, and study your agreement thoroughly! Additional fees or may be applied to your contract.
  • Visiting for a single attraction? Use a map search to locate nearby rentals.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for guests with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available before reserving a rental

Advice for your stay:

  • Add the owner's information to your smartphone. Take a copy of check in/check out procedures.
  • Hosts are there to help! Don't be shy to ask questions before, during, or after your stay.
  • Ensure you protect the owner (and your stuff!) by locking and securing the home when you are gone, just like you would at home.
  • To make sure damages aren't linked to your family's stay, make note of any problem areas upon your arrival. Call the rental manager immediately to document any issues. If there is a dispute, having a record of issues and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Be respectful of your neighbors. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by permanent residents. Respecting quiet hours and parking regulations reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can usually help. Who better to ask where to order delicious takeout, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Double-check every room of the rental property to make sure that you've packed all of your belongings at departure. Re-check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden items. Clean out the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Please make sure to walk through the rental a final time and scan for damages to contents or the property itself. We advise inspecting the property with the property manager whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the property manager isn't available, remember to take pictures of the rental to record its condition at check-out.
  • Did you have a wonderful vacation? Many rental managers make it easy for clients to provide feedback. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to correct it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your feedback.
