Tips and Tricks to get the optimal Cape Fear area vacation property experience:

When to go & When to book:

  • Summertime is the most expensive season in Holden Beach. Reserve your rental property in Fall or Spring to enjoy beautiful weather while saving money and avoiding crowds.
  • In the Cape Fear area area, The earlier your group can reserve a home, the better your selection will be. The most desirable properties are reserved very early. Reserving your rental home 6-12 months before your vacation dates is recommended. Winter holidays are excellent times to search for and book your rental.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner if your vacationing group qualifies for a special promotion or discount.
  • Property managers usually offer renters an option to obtain trip insurance. Trip insurance, which generally costs 1% - 5% of the base booking price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for missed days as a result of medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen happens. Ask your property manager for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you check-in. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local grocery stores and visitor centers. In addition to great local stories, travel guide magazines have offers and deals for local attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Narrow your Search:

  • First and foremost, have your group commit to date ranges and a maximum budget.
  • Decide how many bedrooms and the bed configuration your group needs. Lobster Mobster offers a deep-water canal and heatable saltwater pool has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed types is generally available online. If not, contact the property owner before reserving the home. Remember that most properties list the max. guest capacity, which often includes pull-out couches and bunk beds. You will need to determine which bed configuration is optimal for your vacation group.
  • Is your family looking for unique amenities? Most websites include search filters for amenities. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
  • Proper accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for those with limited mobility. .
  • If your family is bringing pets, you'll need to search for a pet-friendly property. Get information on breed, weight, and type requirements. Some hosts charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations:

  • Get the property manager's phone number and entry/exit procedures for your rental. Store the manager's information in your smartphone.
  • At Check-in, note any issues with the rental property and immediately contact the property manager. Record all coorespondence.
  • Property managers are there to help! Feel free to ask questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking restrictions can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. You'll magnify your chance to make local friends, and resident neighbors are a terrific source for finding the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Locals can often help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to rent beach equipment, have a great night out, or the best spots for BBQ?
  • Protect the owner (and your things!) by locking the property while you are gone, just like you would back home.
  • Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all of your things. Make sure to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden belongings. Remove everything from the refrigerator and take any leftovers home.
  • Inspect the rental one final time and keep an eye out for any damage. We advise walking through with the property manager whenever you can. If the manager is not available, ensure that you take photographs of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your group have a wonderful stay? Most rental managers make it easy for vacationers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property management company was fantastic, they would love to hear about it. If anything was amiss and they failed to address it within reason, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make it a point as part of your review.
