Parlor around like The Lazy Pelican you are and savor the neighborhood feel of this home, located roughly 300 yards from the beach access with no cross streets. Walk back from the beach, rinse in the outdoor shower, take a dip in the pool and grille a southern barbeque for all your guests with tons of room for games and socializing!

Walk through the front door and you're greeted with the comfortable and homey feel of a farmhouse-style beach home! Soothing cool colors and decor make this place calming, so you can relax. It has a well-equipped kitchen. Handsome gray granite counters and a captivating chandelier above the kitchen island with more seating steal the show. This open-concept kitchen and living room serve ideally for those evening meals you'll prepare together as you watch a movie or play board games. There is a stacked washer and dryer off to the side, so you won't worry about wet towels and sandy swimsuits.

Two bedrooms are located on each side of the home, combined with Jack-and-Jill bathrooms. No bedroom is decorated the same, and you'll admire the thought put into each one. All bedrooms besides the master have additional seating so you can bury your nose in a book before bed, but don't worry - wireless internet access is included. There is a sizable TV mounted in the living room. Other T.V.s are wall-mounted in both bunk bed bedrooms. The bunk room with a standard twin-over-twin bunk bed also contains a twin trundle for additional sleeping space.

The fenced-in outdoor getaway is highlighted with an inground saltwater pool and a jetted seating area. Heating is even available upon request for those chillier evenings. Plenty of space for sunbathing in the loungers by the pool. Appreciate dining and socializing under the sunshade by day and carnival lights by nighttime. There's also a cavernous grassy play area for games! On the front of the home, there's a screened-in porch with comfortable seating and a cafe table to appreciate your morning coffee, listen to the ocean and smell the salt air.

The Oak Island Pier, which contains a yummy restaurant and coffeehouse, is only a fifteen-min. walk. Book now to enjoy a peaceful stay in the heart of Oak Island.

Guests should note that an additional pool heating fee is required for each day a guest requests pool heating. Guest must request the pool heating and pay the fee by calling the OIA office during normal business hours at least 24 hours prior to arrival. Strategies to get the best Cape Fear area rental home experience:

Get the most from your vacation rental budget:

  • The sooner your group can reserve a vacation rental, the better your selection will be. The best vacation rentals are reserved very early. Booking your rental home six - twelve months before your vacation dates is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your vacation home.
  • To book the best rental within budget, we suggest reserving in Spring or Fall. You'll enjoy lower rental rates, greater selection, warm weather and the absence of giant crowds at popular attractions and restaurants. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to reserve an oceanfront vacation rental that would otherwise be unavailable or unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation near the ocean? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with loved ones at your favorite beach.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may qualify for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property manager whether your vacationing group qualifies for a price reduction or discount.
  • Management companies and individual rental owners often offer renters an option to add trip insurance protection. Trip insurance, which commonly costs 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of their vacation costs for any missed time as a result of personal medical-related catastrophes or weather disasters, as well as evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel stay or additional gas expenses. Trip insurance might be a a bank account-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for program terms and fees.
  • Many property management companies and vacation rental houses supply Cape Fear area area travel guides which will include coupons, either offered directly by local businesses, or through a relationship with the management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local gas stations and shopping centers.

Use filters to search efficiently:

  • Start by selecting trip dates and a maximum budget.
  • Determine how many beds and the bed configuration your group requires. The Lazy Pelican: Centrally Located and a Short Walk to the Beach has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Specific descriptions of bedrooms and bed counts is often accessible on booking pages. Otherwise, email the property manager before reserving the home. Note that most listings specify the max. guest capacity, which frequently includes pull-out couches. You will need to determine what configuration is optimal for your group.
  • If your group is bringing pets, you'll need to find a pet-friendly rental. Ask for information on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property owners charge pet deposits and fees.
  • Does your group require particular amenities? Most rental websites include search filters for amenities. Filtering by amenity will allow you to quickly find the best rental home.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or ruin a vacation for persons with disabilities. Confirm all necessary amenities are available and included before booking.

Know before you go:

  • Take a copy of the property manager's contact number and entry/exit procedures for your rental home.
  • Ask questions. You may need instructions for a garage door opener, stereo or kitchen appliance. Contact your host. They are there to help! A brief phone call prevents a lot of concerns.
  • Lock your rental home while you're out and about. Protect your property!
  • Make a record of any issues with the property upon arrival, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We specifically recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are useful if there is a dispute.
  • Be a good neighbor. Often times, surrounding homes are occupied by local residents. Respecting late-night noise limits and parking policies reduces conflict and allows everyone to enjoy their day.
  • Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can often help. Who better to ask where to see a beautiful sunrise or sunset, have a great night out, or the best spots for bird watching?
  • When it's time to leave, take a walk-through to confirm you did not forget anything. Check closets, dressers, garages, and bathrooms for hidden treasure. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Go through the rental a final time and scan for any damage. We advise walking through with the host whenever you can (often this isn't possible). If the manager is not available, ensure that you take video and pictures of the property to record its condition.
  • Did you have a excellent stay? Most rental management companies make it easy for guests to provide reviews. If your rental and/or property management company was great, they would love to hear it. If anything was wrong and they failed to fix it in a reasonable manner, or if the vacation rental wasn't described correctly, you'll want to make a note as part of your review.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
