Strategies for getting the perfect vacation property experience:
Sticking to your spending budget:
- June, July, and August are the most expensive months along the coast of NC. Booking a rental in Fall or Spring is one of our best tips for saving money on your vacation. Rates are lower, and you'll find a larger selection of suitable homes. Many vacationers use this method to reserve larger homes, or to reserve an oceanfront rental that would otherwise be unavailable during the Summer months. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook the holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday near the ocean? Christmas, Thanksgiving, and New Years Eve are great times to gather with friends and family at your favorite beach.
- The earlier you can reserve a vacation home, the better your selection will be. The best vacation homes are reserved early. Booking your vacation rental up to twelve months before your vacation is recommended. Holidays such as Christmas and Thanksgiving are excellent times to plan and book your rental home.
- Active Duty and veterans of the US Armed forces may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner whether your family qualifies for a discount.
- Management companies and individual rental owners typically offer guests an option to add vacation insurance protection. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base stay price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for any missed trip time as a result of medical-related emergencies or weather disasters, as well as hurricane evacuation costs or charges, such as an unanticipated hotel overnight or extra gasoline expenses. Trip insurance might be a a life-saver if the unforeseen occurs. Ask the property owner for details.
- Many management companies supply Cape Fear area area visitors guide magazines which often include coupons, either offered independently by local businesses, or by way of a partnership between the rental management company and the business itself. You can also find Cape Fear area area magazine and coupon books at local grocery stores, shopping centers, and visitor centers.
Filter your search:
- First and foremost, have your family decide on a vacation week and a maximum budget.
- Determine how many beds and the bed configuration you need. Sand Pebbles A9–Unwind and enjoy ocean views with easy beach access has 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.
- Specific information about bedrooms and bed types is normally accessible online. If you don't see them listed, call the property owner before booking the vacation home. Note that most listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which oftentimes includes pull-out couches and bunk beds.
- Is your family looking for specific amenities? Most rental websites include search filters with amenity lists. Use these to your advantage to find the perfect rental home.
- Suitable accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to ask about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
- Some rentals allow pets, and others do not. Acceptable types of pet, weight and breeds may be restricted, and added charges may apply. Ask the owner about pet restrictions before booking.
More tips for your visit:
- Take a copy of the owner's phone number and check in/check out procedures for your .
- Document any issues with the property at check in, and immediately e-mail them to the host. We especially recommend e-mails and text messages, as they usually contain built-in time stamps that are beneficial if a dispute is filed.
- Property managers are available to help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
- Be a good neighbor! You wouldn't like troublesome vacationers bothering your peaceful home life. Employ the golden rule for best judgement. If they like you, locals might even recommend great local food and attractions you would've not otherwise known about!
- Speaking of neighbors... Ask a local resident! Neighbors can frequently help. Who better to ask where to launch your kayaks, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for crabbing?
- Lock your vacation home while you're out. Protect your property!
- Don't leave anything behind! Just before departing, take a walk through the rental property to make sure you've collected all belongings. Make sure to check bathrooms, dressers, and closets for hidden belongings. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
- Document the condition of the property at check-out. We recommend taking a video during your final walk-through.
- Remember to leave feedback! Hosts rely on great reviews to compel more reservations. They'll be much obliged for your review. Alternatively, if something wasn't right, other vacationers will will be grateful for your feedback and help them have the best future vacation. Please be objective. If something fell short of expectations, consider whether the owner had any control over the issue, and if so, whether they responded reasonably to solve it.
