About this Property

  • Private vacation home
  • Approximately 1800 square feet

OCEANFRONT beach home which is owner managed. Some summer openings for 3-4 nights or full weeks.

Pelican Watch is a impressive 4 bedroom, 3.5 bath, plus outside shower, which is oceanfront on the East End of Holden Beach. I re-opened our private heated pool in early March and will have it open until November. The beach strand is frequently renourished and is broad and in great shape. The home is very tall and sits behind two rows of dunes and a limited use one-way street. Take a short walk to stairs over our protective dunes to access the uncrowded beach strand.

Holden Beach, and especially the "East End" is much less densely developed than many Carolina beaches.

Pelican Watch is very tall with great sweeping vistas over the dunes, beach strand and the Atlantic. Three of the 4 bedrooms as well as the living room are oceanfront with plenty of glass. The ELEVATOR goes from the ground / parking level to the top floor, without a stop at the lower living level. The top floor (served by elevator) included: living room; dining; kitchen; elevated sitting area with access to a back deck; oceanfront porch; one Oceanfront queen suite, and a half bath off common areas. The lower living level (no elevator stop) has: Oceanfront suite with king bed; oceanfront bedroom with queen bed which shares a bath with back bedroom with a full size bed and roll out single trundle.
Private heated pool has lounge chairs. We have a collections (varies) of beach chairs, pool floats, body boards,

Our kitchen is much better outfitted than the typical beach rental. My wife and I designed Pelican Watch and it's our third (now only one) home on the East End. We are actively involved in the entire operation and are supported by longtime local cleaning and maintenance professionals.

Sometimes the calendar might show as "blocked" but might be available. I'm retired and I get there frequently, but often have flexibility. Reach out with any questions,
Thanks, Irv Woods
PS Over 80% of of annual rental nights are booked by multi-years repeat renters, some for more than 15 consecutive years.

Tricks and tips to get the best rental home experience:

When to book & When to go:

  • June, July, and August are the most expensive months in coastal NC. Booking a rental in the Fall or Spring shoulder seasons is an excellent way to save on your vacation rental. Rates are lower, and you'll find a better selection of suitable properties. Many vacationers use this method to find larger homes within budget, or to book a beach front vacation rental that would otherwise be unaffordable during the Summer. Speaking of the off-season, don't overlook Winter holidays for a Cape Fear area vacation! Who wouldn't love a holiday vacation on the coast? Thanksgiving and Christmas are great times to gather with friends and family at the beach.
  • Reserve your rental as soon as possible. Rental schedules often become available 12 months in advance (or in September just after the Summer season ends). Many groups reserve their Summer rental homes during holiday get-togethers. Book before these holidays for best selection.
  • Veterans and Active Duty Military members may be qualified for special discounts. Be sure to ask your prospective property owner or host if your vacationing group qualifies for a discount.
  • Booking websites often offer their guests an option to add trip insurance. Trip insurance, which will generally cost 1% - 5% of the base reservation price, offers visitors reimbursement of costs for missed trip time as a result of medical-related issues or weather disasters, as well as ensuing additional hurricane evacuation costs, such as an unexpected hotel overnight or additional gasoline expenses. Trip insurance can be a a welcome relief if the unforeseen happens. Ask the property owner for specifics.
  • Find a copy of your local Cape Fear area visitors guide magazine when you arrive at the rental property. If your rental property doesn't have one, you can find them at local shops and visitor centers. In addition to great information, travel guides have coupons for nearby attractions, tours, restaurants, and shops.

Filter your rental search:

  • Select vacation week and max budget.
  • Determine how many bedrooms and the configuration your group needs. Oceanfront, June 21-24, Aug 10-31 open, Priv. Heated Pool, EV charging, Elevator has 4 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms. If you need a larger or smaller rental, use our Cape Fear area vacation rental search.
  • Precise details about bedrooms and bed counts is commonly accessible on booking websites. If they are not listed, email or call the property owner before reserving the property. Note that most property listings specify the maximum guest capacity, which typically includes sofa beds and bunks. You will need to establish which bed configuration is suitable for your vacation.
  • Are you visiting for a single event or attraction? If so, use a map search to find nearby properties.
  • Appropriate accessibility amenities can make or break a vacation for persons with a disability. Make certain to inquire about specialized equipment and wheel chair accessibility.
  • If your group is vacationing with pets, you'll need to book a rental that allows animals. Ask for details on breed, weight, and type restrictions. Be aware that some property managers charge pet deposits and fees.

More considerations for your visit:

  • Get the host's contact number and arrival/departure procedures for your rental home. We recommend storing the manager's contact information in your smartphone and wallet.
  • To ensure that damages are not linked to your stay, make note of any problem areas when you arrive. Contact the property manager right away to relay your findings. If there is a dispute about legal responsibility later, having a record of concerns and contact attempts will be very helpful.
  • Hosts are great sources of help! Feel free to ask any questions during your stay.
  • Respecting late-night quiet hours and parking rules can make a stay significantly more pleasurable. Be a good neighbor. You'll magnify your chance to make some new local friends, and resident neighbors are a great resource to find the best local spots.
  • Don't forget to... Ask a local! Residents can usually help you find the best spots in town. Who better to ask where to get the best seafood, have a great night on the town, or the best spots for shopping?
  • Lock your rental property while you're gone! Don't let crooks ruin your holiday.
  • Double-check the rental property to make sure that you've packed all personal items on check-out day. Remember to check garages, decks, and cabinets for hidden items. Clean the refrigerator and take or dispose of leftovers.
  • Inspect the property one final time and keep an eye out for damages to contents or the property itself. We recommend inspecting the property with the property manager whenever possible. If the manager is not available, take video and pictures of the rental to record its condition.
  • Did your family have a wonderful stay? Many rental home management companies make it easy for travelers to provide reviews. If your rental property and/or property manager was wonderful, they would love to hear about it. If anything was inoperable and they failed to address it reasonably, or if the vacation rental wasn't as described, you'll want to make it a point as part of your comments.

Victory Beach Vacations

Visitors who are on the hunt for the postcard-perfect vacation rental in the heart of the Carolina Beach or Kure Beach area will find an enticing selection and plenty of friendly customer service when they rent through Victory Beach Vacations. Based in Carolina Beach in the coastal Cape Fear region, Victory Beach Vacations has more than 100 vacation rentals in all shapes and sizes to ensure that every vacationing family can find their dream home away from home on the beach.   When you book your Cape Fear getaway with Victory Beach Vacations, the fun doesn’t end when you leave the beach, it continues with an array of privately-owned properties outfitted with all of the amenities needed for a fabulous beach vacation.   Jenna Lanier, General Manager, explains that her family first opened the rental and property management business in 2002. At the forefront of Victory Beach operations is Lanier’s mother, Caroline Meeks. Meeks is both the Broker in Charge and co-owner with husband, Buck Meeks, who manages the Field Services team with Lanier’s husband, Scott.   For nearly 20 years, the Victory Beach team has worked tirelessly to establish a network of top-of-the-line rental properties for Cape Fear visitors to enjoy. “As far as our properties go,” explains Lanier, “they are all updated, well-furnished and appointed. “We have always performed post-cleaning inspections and since the pandemic, have put freshly laundered duvets over all of the comforters between rentals.”   Lanier emphasizes how important the guests experience is “we strive to give our guests a relaxing, stress free, memorable vacation.” This emphasis on customer service has led to Victory Beach Vacations having a 4.8 Google rating with over 300 reviews by happy owners and guests. In addition to Victory Beach’s superior sanitation practices, the company offers properties for every type of visitor. Choose from luxury oceanfront houses and condos to more reasonbly priced 2nd row properties with oceanviews. Many properties include pools and hot tubs as well, perfect for outdoor entertaining, and many are dog friendly.   Lanier also notes that all properties are within walking or driving distance to Pleasure Island’s main attractions – Carolina Beach and Kure Beach. The former, as described by Lanier, is the more commercialized of the two destinations and features a boardwalk, outdoor dining options and a plethora of weekly activities including fireworks, live music, amusement park pop-ups, and movies under the stars. Kure Beach offers a more residential feel with its fishing pier, intimate restaurants and family favorite, North Carolina Aquarium at Fort Fisher.More water fun awaits, too. “There is a harbor and a canal that feed into the intercoastal. We have several properties on the harbor so guests can bring their boat, kayak, [or jet ski] and travel between islands,” says Lanier.   A stay with Victory Beach Vacations is an annual pilgrimage for most. “A large percentage of guests are previous guests. Some even reserve the same property for the next year as they’re checking out,” Lanier says. “It’s almost like it’s their personal vacation home.”   Even before guests arrive at their vacation destination, the Victory Beach Vacations’ website greets them with a live beach cam and exquisite aerial footage of both Carolina and Kure Beaches.
